Control and instrumentation
Sell surplus control and instrumentation cable in Kentucky
Control cable is bought in 1,000-foot reels for a loop package that rarely lands exactly on the reel length. The leftovers are usually good cable with a partial tag, sitting in a cabinet because nobody wants to throw it away.
- Multi-conductor control cable in 14, 12 and 10 AWG, shielded and unshielded.
- Instrumentation cable in twisted pairs and triads with overall shield and drain wire.
- Thermocouple extension cable in type J, K, T and E.
- Tray-rated control cable with the TC or PLTC marking on the jacket.
- Armored and interlocked control cable where it was specified for a harsh area.
- Color-coded and numbered conductor constructions, including older plant stock.
Signal cable is priced on configuration
Two reels that look identical from the outside can be worth very different amounts. A 12-conductor 16 AWG shielded control cable and a 12-pair 18 AWG instrumentation cable have different conductor counts, different shielding and different buyers. The jacket print and the reel tag carry the configuration, so those are the two photos we ask for first.
Kentucky chemical, food and beverage, and automotive supplier plants replace control systems in stages, which leaves partial reels of several configurations at once. That kind of mixed lot is normal for us. List each reel separately by configuration and footage, and we will price the lot as a group.
Condition notes that matter
- Shield and drain wire intact at the cut end.
- No water inside the reel; damp conductor ends are a real problem for signal cable.
- Jacket print still legible, especially the voltage and temperature rating.
- Original reel tag present, or the footage written on the reel flange.
Questions about control and instrumentation cable
Can you price control cable without the reel tag?
Usually. The jacket print gives the conductor count, gauge, shielding and voltage. We may ask you to count the conductors at the cut end if the print is worn.
Do you buy thermocouple extension wire?
Yes, in type J, K, T and E, on reels or in partial lengths, as long as the calibration type is marked on the cable.
Will you take small partial reels?
Small quantities are better combined with a larger lot. If you have several partial reels, send them together and we will look at the group.
Sell your control and instrumentation cable
Give us the size, the footage and a photo of the tag. We reply with an offer or one clarifying question.
Ready to move it out of the crib?
Tell us where the material is and how it loads. We will arrange pickup once the offer is agreed.
