Industrial cable
Sell surplus tray cable and VFD cable in Kentucky
Tray cable and VFD cable are specified by the run, not by the foot, so a design change or a cancelled drive installation can strand hundreds of feet of shielded cable in a plant electrical room.
- TC-ER exposed-run tray cable in 3 and 4 conductor plus ground configurations.
- VFD cable with copper tape or braided shield, typically 3 phase conductors plus three grounds.
- PLTC instrumentation cable in 300V constructions, including twisted pairs and triads.
- ITC industrial tray cable for control and signal circuits.
- Shielded cable with the drain wire intact and the overall jacket uncut.
- Reels left from a drive replacement or a motor control center upgrade.
Why shielding changes the offer
VFD cable carries a shield, and the shield is what makes it expensive in the first place. If the cable has been cut and the shield is frayed, or the drain wire has been pulled back, the remaining length is harder to resell. A reel that is still factory-wrapped with the shield and drain intact is the easiest thing for us to price and the easiest to place with another plant.
Tray cable is often stored outdoors on racking because it is tough enough to take it. Sun exposure alone is not a problem for TC-ER, but standing water inside a reel, or a jacket that has gone chalky and cracked, is. Look at the outer wrap before you send the photos.
What to send
- Cable family and any markings printed on the jacket, such as TC-ER or PLTC.
- Conductor count and size, and whether a ground is included.
- Voltage rating and shielding type, if known.
- Footage marked on the reel tag, or the approximate remaining length.
- Photos of the reel face, the jacket print and the cut end.
Questions about tray and vfd cable
Do you buy VFD cable with a damaged shield?
We will look at it, but the offer reflects the damage. Cut the damaged section off cleanly and photograph what is left so we can price the good length.
What is TC-ER rated for?
TC-ER is tray cable rated for exposed runs, which is why it is used between trays and equipment without conduit. The marking on the jacket is the reliable answer for a specific reel.
Can tray cable be stored outside?
Sunlight-resistant tray cable is commonly stored outdoors, but reels should be off the ground so water does not wick into the conductor ends. Tell us if a reel has been sitting in water.
