Sell surplus low-voltage and communication cable in Kentucky

Data, fire alarm and security cable comes in boxes, not reels, and boxes are easy to stack and forget. A building refresh can leave a pallet of unopened boxes that are still perfectly usable.

  • Cat5e and Cat6 plenum and riser cable in 1,000 ft boxes.
  • Cat6A and shielded data cable, including direct-burial and industrial Ethernet constructions.
  • RG6 and RG11 coaxial cable on spools and in boxes.
  • Fire alarm cable rated FPLR, FPLP and FPL, in 2 to 4 conductor configurations.
  • Security, access control and intercom cable in multi-conductor constructions.
  • Thermostat, irrigation and speaker cable in partial boxes.

The rating on the box is the product

Plenum and riser ratings are not interchangeable, and a box marked CMP sells for more than the same footage marked CMR. Before you send photos, check the box end: it lists the category, the rating, the conductor type and the footage. That one photo usually settles the offer.

Data cable that has been pulled and abandoned is a different matter. Cable that has been installed, stapled, or pulled through conduit and cut out is rarely worth buying. Unopened boxes and clean partial boxes are what we are set up for.

What to include

  • Category and rating for each box, for example Cat6 CMP plenum.
  • Number of boxes and the footage marked on each.
  • Whether each box is sealed or has been partly used.
  • Brand, if it is printed clearly, since some brands are easier to place.
  • One photo of the box label and one of the pallet.
FAQStraight answers

Questions about low-voltage and communication cable

Do you buy partial boxes of Cat6?

Yes, if the remaining footage is marked or can be estimated. Partial boxes are common after a tenant fit-out.

Is plenum cable worth more than riser cable?

Generally yes, because it is a more expensive product and is required in air-handling spaces. The rating printed on the box determines it.

Do you take fire alarm cable?

Yes, in FPLR, FPLP and FPL constructions, on spools or in boxes, as long as the rating marking is legible.
