Flexible cable
Sell surplus SOOW and flexible cable in Kentucky
Portable cord and SOOW cable get bought by the coil for temporary power, staging and plant maintenance, and the leftovers accumulate in every maintenance shop in the state.
- SOOW 600V portable cord in 12/3, 10/4, 8/5 and similar assemblies.
- SJOOW 300V cord in 16 and 18 AWG for small equipment and tools.
- Flexible multi-conductor control cable for conveyor, packaging and machine tool work.
- Welding cable in flexible neoprene jacket, 2/0 and 4/0.
- Festoon and reeling cable for crane and hoist applications.
- Coils with shop labels, taped ends or faded print but sound insulation.
What decides the price
Flexible cable is judged on the jacket. A coil that has been dragged across a plant floor has abrasion on the outer jacket even if the conductors are fine, and a coil that has been stored near a heat source may have hardened insulation. Both are still buyable, but the offer reflects what a contractor would be willing to install.
The other factor is length. Flexible cable is usually sold by the coil, so a full 250-foot coil is worth noticeably more per foot than four 50-foot cutoffs of the same cable. If your lot is mostly short lengths, say so; it changes whether a pickup makes sense.
Where it piles up
Maintenance shops at manufacturing plants, equipment rental yards, staging and event contractors, and machine builders all hold more portable cord than they will use. Because the coils are small, this is one of the few categories where a single pallet can be worth a trip.
Questions about soow and flexible cable
Do you buy portable cord by weight?
No. Flexible cable is priced on the assembly, the gauge, the voltage rating and the length, because another user needs a specific cord type.
What is the difference between SOOW and SJOOW?
SOOW is a 600V heavy-duty cord; SJOOW is a 300V junior cord with a smaller conductor range. Both are bought, and the marking on the jacket identifies which one you have.
Will you take short cut lengths?
Usually as part of a larger lot. On their own, short cutoffs are rarely worth a pickup, but they add value when combined with full coils.
